“Oh mighty warrior of great fighting stoooock! Might I inquire to ask, ‘Ehh, What’s up Doooc?!'” Elmer continues to play dead while the real bear concludes that the two are insane. Fudd is relieved, but Bugs acts like a bear to torment him. Bugs reappears and Elmer flees from what he now knows is 100% bear.īugs advises him to play dead, and just like in “ Wabbit Twouble” it works. He whips up a potion to remove the effects, but the bear is not drinking that again. Fudd comes back and seeing the bear with the carrot, also assumes the stuff worked. The bear takes a bite out of Bug’s carrot to remove the taste in his mouth. The bear walks to the lab, and when Bugs sees the ursine wearing Fudd’s hat he assumes the potion did it. Elmer freaks out, so does it only work on people? He runs to join his dog in grass eating but on the way he runs into a bear, leaving his hat behind. (Scientists have to be used to failure, so I guess it’s true when he says he’s a horrible scientist.) To calm him down (or maybe to give him a taste of his own medicine,) Bugs gives him a drink of the concoction. (Notice Elmer seems to have buck teeth in this short?) Back at the lab, the formula seems to have no effect on Bugs. Taking pity, he decides to play along and gets in. He sets up a trap, and Bugs comes out, amazed such obvious traps still exist. (I only assume it does not work, you don’t need to invent something that makes dogs eat grass.) Since that was his last “guinea pig,” Fudd decides to trap a lagomorph. He gives some to his lab dog, who rushes out to eat grass. He never says what he is working on, but I assume it’s a standard Jekyll/Hyde formula. So now if I can’t find a clip, I’ll still try to find a picture for the short. So now that the site is two years old, I’m trying to improve it anyway I can. What about vehicular manslaughter? Next will we have to take the CARs out of CARtoons?Įnough is enough.“All out of expewamentew animaws. But who cares about explosives? As long as Elmer Fudd is disarmed our children are safe to now watch these cartoons, right? Forget about the Unabomber, the Time Square Bombing, the Boston Marathon Bombings, the Oklahoma City Bombing, the World Trade Center Bombing, the Underwear Bomber, Centennial Olympic Park, the list goes on. Yet explosive devices are depicted every bit as much, if not more, than in the original cartoon.Īpparently nearly 40,000 bombings in the United States in a 20 year period doesn't mean much. I don't think that is politically correct at all!Īpparently this decision was made due to the mass shootings that have taken place in the US. This just depicts hunters in a vile and barbaric image. The idea that Elmer no longer has a firearm, but is using a scythe to try to "hunt" Bugs Bunny I feel depicts hunters as primitive and barbaric with a lust for murder and mayhem! Surely a scythe would not dispatch game in a quick and humane manner compared to the shotgun he was using. Just respect each other's thoughts and feelings, and coexist. People don't have to agree with each other in order to get along. To me, that's far more politically correct as it shows both sides and also a peaceful resolution. The two of them could be amazing friends who both love, enjoy, and appreciate nature, but have a difference of opinion where hunting and animal consumption are concerned. They could both share their sides and their opinions without being angry or hostile to each other and could just agree to disagree. The vegan could say how emotionally, he cannot accept the idea of an animal being killed for consumption or human gain/profit. The viewer could actually be educated on several facts regarding the benefits of hunting that many people are unaware of. Elmer Fudd could explain all the benefits hunting has for conservation and proper wildlife Management, and how he appreciates organic meat free of artificial hormones, antibiotics, etc. The two of them would have calm and rational discussions about their opinions on hunting and/or consuming animals. If they truly wanted to be politically correct what they could do is introduce a new character who is a vegan. But in the name of "political correctness" our beloved Elmer Fudd has been stripped of his firearm. You may or may not be aware that HBO Max has relaunched Warner Brothers classic Looney Tunes Cartoons.
